About Rod

Rod is a former secondary school teacher and principal.

He has worked in the education field since 1974 in regional and city schools, small and large.

Since retiring from the Department of Education in 2017 after 43 years, Rod continues to follow his passion for improving the quality of teaching, learning and educational leadership, particularly in secondary schools.

Rod’s focus has always been on doing what is necessary to achieve the best possible outcomes for students and believes strongly that teachers and school leaders have a pivotal role in creating and sustaining a rich learning environment for all students.

Rod continues to work in schools supporting school leaders and assisting in leadership development. Rod is also a project officer with the Victorian Association of State Secondary Principals (VASSP)

Rod joined TAASS as Executive Officer in 2022 and, with the TAASS executive team, is committed to building a strong and energetic network of SEAL schools. TAASS members are dedicated to sharing knowledge, skills and inspiration from world class expertise and teaching practices that will enhance outcomes for High Ability students.

Rod enjoys reading, music, cycling and travel and is an active MCC and Collingwood AFL club member.
